The award ceremony for “Millions of People, Millions of Trees” and “Your World? Clean!”On June 8th 2010, PRAIS organized the award ceremony for the fourth edition of the national movement “Millions of People, Millions of Trees” and the second edition of the initiative “Your World? Clean!”, programs implemented by PRAIS Foundation. During the event, at which attended over 200 guests, were awarded the trophies for the most active companies, organizations and state institutions that have organized planting activities from October 2009 to May 2010 and registered their results on the website www.milioanedecopaci.ro. Since its launch in September 2006 utill May 2010, the movement registered a record number of planting at national level: more than 53.198.000 trees and 23.254.000 shrubs and plants. These results were possible thanks to the extraordinary involvement of 700 organizations, 98,000 volunteers and 91,000 employees. The movement is officially recognized by the United Nations for Environment Programme (UNEP) and is developed under the logo of UNEP’s global program „Plant for the Planet”.
Also, during the ceremony were awarded prizes for the most active schools involved in the selective gathering actions of the initiative “Your world? Clean!” and for the winners of contest of objects made of recyclable materials enrolled in the Bucharest schools. To date, Your World? Clean! has involved more than 5,200 pupils and 230 teachers from 92 schools in Bucharest, Medgidia, Arad and Timisoara Counties, as well as 15,000 members of the pupils’ families. 50 open lessons were conducted in schools; the pupils created more than 1,300 decorative items from recyclable materials, of which 200 were awarded. The pupils registered 260 compositions on environmental topics on the website www.lumeatacurata.ro.
