Bucharest, October 26th, 2006. Today, PRAIS Foundation is launching the Corporate Social Responsibility programme "Millions of People, Millions of Trees". Starting this year, national campaigns of planting trees and other plants will be carried out every spring and autumn, both inside and outside built-up areas, which require the recovery of a healthy environment. The planting activities will be carried out exclusively based on the voluntary involvement of the employees of the companies or other organisations which will register in the programme.

Silvia Bucur, PRAIS Foundation President, declares that: "The objectives of this national Corporate Social Responsibility programme are:

• Raising awareness of the major role that the Romanian society should play in protecting and recreating the environment HERE, NOW and TODAY, by planting trees and other plants in approved areas;
• Contributing to the education of the young generation in the spirit of environmental protection, by involving its representatives in the programme, in a direct and active manner;
• Obtaining measurable national results of the CSR programme starting with the autumn of 2006;
• Creating a national movement with significant long-term results in terms of environmental protection;
• Contributing to Romania's image within the European Union in terms of the involvement of its citizens in voluntary activities meant to recreate the environment".

This CSR programme has been developed in partnership with the Ministry of Environment and Water Management and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development. The local municipalities, Romsilva and Trade Chambers will support the implementation of the voluntary activities of planting trees and other plants. The launch of this programme is possible due to the generosity and active involvement of the following companies: URSUS Breweries - Founding Member, Lafarge Romania, Quadrant Amroq Beverages and Smithfield Romania - Partners.

Any company or organisation from Romania can register in the programme freely, directly on the website www.milioanedecopaci.ro. Besides their own employees, the participants can invite other volunteers as well, such as students and pupils from the areas where they conduct their business. The results of the voluntary planting campaigns will be introduced by the registered companies directly on the website www.milioanedecopaci.ro. Based on the uploaded data, a ranking will be automatically generated with the most active companies or organisations involved in environmental protection activities consisting in the voluntary planting of trees or other plants.

Every year, on the 5th of June, on the World Environment Day, there will be an Award Ceremony for the top three positions in the national ranking that will receive Excellence Diplomas. The winner of the first prize will be awarded the "Millions of People, Millions of Trees" trophy. All the companies involved in the programme will receive Merit Diplomas for their special efforts in the two annual planting campaigns, which take place in spring and autumn.

The message we will convey in the CSR programme "Millions of People, Millions of Trees" is the following:

Today, more than ever before, each and every one of us should be involved in voluntary actions meant to protect the environment and recreate the nature in which plants and trees should regain their well-deserved place. If each of us plants a tree or another plant today, we shall all breathe in a cleaner air tomorrow and nature shall reward us!
